America's Children's Holiday Parade It all began with the idea to bring a parade back to downtown Oakland to celebrate the rebirth of the city and its renewed viability. The Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Children's Hospital and Research Center at Oakland joined together with a multitude of Parade Pioneers and local businesses to make this dream a reality. The first annual parade was held in 2000 with huge success and over 30,000 spectators along the parade route. Still in its infancy, the Comcast Holiday

size and quality. This parade has the distinction of attracting
the largest number of The future of the parade is very bright with plans to expand its presence nationally through television and the media, along with attracting more participants from across the United States.
