America's Children's Holiday Parade

It all began with the idea to bring a parade back to downtown Oakland to celebrate the rebirth of the city and its renewed viability. The Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Children's Hospital and Research Center at Oakland joined together with a multitude of Parade Pioneers and local businesses to make this dream a reality. The first annual parade was held in 2000 with huge success and over 30,000 spectators along the parade route.

Still in its infancy, the Comcast Holiday Parade –- America’s Children’s Parade -- continues to grow in size and quality. This parade has the distinction of attracting the largest number of spectators for a single event in the City of Oakland, over 100,000 and still growing. The parade is televised throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and on PBS-TV stations across the country.

The future of the parade is very bright with plans to expand its presence nationally through television and the media, along with attracting more participants from across the United States.  It’s an event not to be missed!
